Anyone who has visited the Sheffield Adventure Film Festival (ShAFF), or any other film festival, will realise that adventure films come in all shapes and sizes, however, just a fifth of the films screened at ShAFF feature female protagonists, or are made by women.

This competition, aimed at amateur or professional film-makers was to make a short film about the mountain adventures of an exciting woman or women.  The films were then made available via BMC TV where viewers could vote their favourites on to the shortlist.

The winner Blue Hue is a film about the joys of year round naked swimming in the lakes of Snowdonia. Created by fine artist Natasha Brookes, this was the first firlm Natasha has made and we think you’ll agree it’s a pretty stunning debut.
